Ready for a new challenge?

The 36th edition of the Leiden Marathon is about so much more than running. It’s an experience. Leiden and its surroundings at their very best. The historic city centre, the canals, the crowds lining the course… All of it creates a beautiful contrast with the surrounding polders and green villages. And then there’s the spectacular finish arch at the Vismarkt, where we’ll welcome you across the finish line. You won’t want to miss marathon weekend on 8 and 9 May 2027.

The new start on Koninginnelaan was a great success, so of course we’ll be back there in 2027. The 5K Nightrun on Saturday evening is here to stay as well. On Sunday, choose from the familiar 10K, 21K or 42K. Or put on your walking shoes on Saturday and take part in the 10K, 21K or 42K walking event. And for our youngest participants, there’s the free Kids Run – the spectacular finale to the weekend.

All you have to do is sign up. We’ll take care of the rest.

Registration opens on Thursday, 1 October at 12:00 noon.

The organization of the Leiden Marathon consists of a board and a large group of volunteers supported by the marathon agency. The board is thinking about the future and is leading a large group of rayon heads, coordinators, careers, starting and finishing groups, and the staff in issuing starting numbers, etc. The marathon agency is the driving force behind the Leiden Marathon and is engaged in collecting and sponsorship, purchase of medals, employee clothes, promotion teams and directing trainees and graduates.

And of course they support the board. The board and marathon agency are busy organizing the Leiden Marathon throughout the year. Most volunteers are active in the last month before the marathon day. The Leiden Marathon is organized by a group of more than 1,100 employees (most of them are volunteerd), each of which is an indispensable link between the Leiden Marathon and the Race.
