Leiden Marathon brings start times forward

The Leiden Marathon has brought forward the start times of various distances for the 34th edition on Sunday 11 May 2025. Participants of the full and half marathon will leave an hour earlier than previous years at 9am and 10am respectively.

The organisers are responding to possible warm weather conditions with this decision. In 2024, the Leiden Marathon had to remove the 10 kilometres from the programme at the last minute. Several participants had run into problems on the longer distances because of the high temperature combined with the exertion. As a result, there were no longer enough ambulances available for the continuation of the event.

Other distances and walking

The bringing forward of the full and half marathon also affects the other distances. The 10 kilometres will start at 1pm, followed an hour later by the 5 kilometres. The CORPUS Kidsrun will form the spectacular conclusion of the event at 3pm. For the first time, children can participate in this run over 2 kilometres for free.

The programme of the Leiden Marathon Walk on Saturday 10 May remains unchanged. The start of the 42 kilometres is at 8am. This will be followed by the 21 kilometres and 10 kilometres at 10.30am and 11.30am respectively.

Registration

Registration for both running and walking is now open, click for running and walking. We recommend registering early. Last year, almost all distances sold out early.
