Leiden Marathon supports Sinterklaas charity drive by Sleutelstad

The Leiden Marathon is joining the big Sintvoorieder1 collection campaign by Sleutelstad. From Monday 17 November to Friday 21 November, everyone can drop off gifts at the Marathon Office at JC de Rijpstraat 20 in Leiden between 9:00 and 17:00. The organisation will then make sure everything reaches the local broadcaster.

In the Netherlands, 1 in 9 children grows up in (hidden) poverty. A distressing figure that shows how important it is to do something extra together during this time of year. With this campaign, Sleutelstad and Stichting Sintvoorieder1 want to give as many children as possible a gift who would otherwise receive nothing for Sinterklaas.

Sintvoorieder1 assembles packages for children aged 0 to 17, which social organisations distribute to families in need. The shared goal is to collect 50,000 gifts.

A caring society

“The Leiden Marathon doesn’t just want to get people moving, but also contribute to a caring society,” explains Tjeerd Scheffer on behalf of the Leiden Marathon. “Sinterklaas is a celebration for all walks of life. Every child should be able to receive a gift.”

“For this beautiful city and for everyone who needs it, we at the Leiden Marathon are happy to go the extra mile. We sincerely hope that participants, volunteers, spectators and sponsors will join us. Together we’ll make sure every child has something fun to unwrap on 5 December.”

New gift

Anyone who wishes to donate can drop off a new gift (value up to 25 euros, not wrapped) at the Marathon Office. Of course, you can also bring it directly to the Sleutelstad studio.
